Software QA Tester

Castle Water has an exciting opportunity for a Software QA Tester to join our energetic and busy IT Department. What you'll be doing

  • Work on multiple projects at one time
  • Working as part of the test team to ensure that allocated tests have been executed correctly and as per standard.
  • Analyze business requirements and write manual and automation tests.
  • Manual test execution using JIRA / Xray
  • Automation test execution using AutomatePro (training will be provided)
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve / raise defects and write up bug reports in Jira.
  • Design tests to mitigate risk.
  • Present findings to software development and business user teams.
  • Communicate findings to technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Work towards departmental and project deadlines.

What you'll bring to the role

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience (preferably in the utilities sector) in software testing with a strong understanding of QA concepts, testing techniques, and automation tools & technologies.
  • Understanding of at least one programming language such as Python, Java, C#.
  • Understanding of SDLC (waterfall & agile development methodologies).
  • Experience of JIRA / X-ray or similar testing tools like TestRail, Bugzilla, Quality Center (ALM)
  • Ability to analyze project documentation to ensure a thorough understanding of the business and technical requirements. These may include business requirements, functional specifications, process flow diagrams.
  • Understand automation frameworks, Continuous Integration (CI) tools, and automation infrastructure.
  • Experience of managing / participating in UAT and CAT testing.
  • Basic understanding of defect management with the ability to Identify, report and track software defects and issues.
  • Independently develop and execute test plans to validate software functionality against requirements and specifications.
  • Perform functional, performance, security and regression testing of software products.
  • Experience of front and back-end testing, with an awareness of RDBMS and SQL Scripting.
  • Ability to test in different environments including web and mobile.
  • Understanding of Test reporting / test progress & defect reports.
  • Experience in providing end-to-end technical support for testing engagements
  • Develop and maintain healthy collaborative relationships with key partners such as Business Analysts/ Product Managers / Software Engineers & Business Users.
  • Support the QA & Test Team in the establishment and implementation of effective practice and procedures for software testing and quality assurance.

Advantageous:

  • ISEB Foundation in Software Test or similar relevant accreditation.
  • Experienced in Web based automated testing tools (Selenium / Gherkin / Cucumber)
  • Experience / exposure in testing of billing system software or ServiceNow Platform.
  • Capability to analyze requirements, strategize, and execute automation plans efficiently.
  • Experience of Git
